Invasion of the Bees

Walking down Castro one beautiful Sunday, what did we come upon but a swarm of honey bees! For some reason, Queen Bee decided that the outdoor seating right in front of Tea Era and Queen House was the perfect place to set down for the day while her workers searched for a new place to build a hive...

Alas, it was not to be! Mr. Beekeeper came and took Queen Bee and (almost) all her workers away. Hopefully, they lived happily ever after, since they're in high demand - there's a shortage of honey bees in Central Valley because some farmers and other unscrupulous folks have been poaching hives...

You could smell honey, though there was no hive...

Movie: Honey bee, honey bee, buzz buzz buzz!

A bunch of them had actually also invaded the art store...

A closeup, from as close as I dared get...

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the beekeeper take them away... They were gone by 4:30 or so...
